  • Create Better Images Workshop I & II

    Jennifer
and I are thrilled with how many of you out there have expressed
interest in our next Create Better Images Photography Workshop! As we
have mentioned previously, we will be doing another beginner workshop
as well as an intermediate class on Saturday, November 1st. You can
expect the registration forms & details to be posted to our blogs
within the week so you can reserve your spots, but here is a little
general overview information so you can plan as needed::

    **Saturday, November 1, 2008**
    Create Better Images Workshops

    Beginner Workshop 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Kim Jarman Photography Studio – Mesa, AZ
    We
will be covering the fundamentals of photography: ISO, shutter speed
and aperture and how they interrelate. Our goal is to get you shooting
manually (and therefore more creatively), teaching you how to turn off
your flash and getting images that pop and wow. To see the flyer from
the last workshop for more details on the actual topics covered, please click here.

$169 ($149 “early bird rate” for those who register before Oct 12th)
    Participants
will need a camera, any lenses they have and their manual. SLR camera
strongly recommended since we cover SLR camera functions.

Intermediate Workshop with Live Model Shoot 2:30 PM – 7:00 PM
Kim Jarman Photography Studio – Mesa, AZ
    This
workshop is for those who understand the fundamentals, as it will build
upon all of those skills. We will review them, especially in live
practice, but not spend as much time on the basics as the beginner
class. Most importantly, we will have 2 models (a toddler and a high
school senior) and will divide into 2 groups for the live shoot
portion. This workshop will be very hands-on and after the shoot, you
will actually process your images via Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop and
share a few of them. We will review shooting techniques, posing
suggestions, and go very in-depth with the actual shooting process. The
detailed flyer will be posted with the registration form within the
    week.

$269.00 ($249 early bird rate for those who register before Oct 12th)
    Participants
must have (or rent) a digital SLR camera for this, as well as bring any
lenses they have. We also ask that you bring a laptop since you will be
processing your images. If you do not have a laptop, please let us know.

    Both
workshops are limited to 20 participants. Our goal is to make the
workshops as interactive and friendly as possible, where attendees feel
comfortable to ask questions and share in this small-group format.

    All
spots are first-come, first-serve after the forms are posted, so please
watch our blogs in the next several days for the info. If you have
previously emailed us expressing interest, you will receive info via
email immediately preceding the registration blog post. Thank you for
your interest! We hope to see you in November.

    *************
    We
are looking for a toddler model for this shoot. Toddler must be between
ages 1-1/2 and 4 and parent will be on-hand during shoot. Parents will
receive free images on a disc including images from Jennifer, Kim and
each of the participants. We advise that the toddler model not be one
of the workshop participants’ child. The reason is that the parent may
not be able to disengage and focus as well on the shooting part if
    their child needs them.

  • Please Keep In Your Prayers

Little Aaron Robinson – Please keep in your prayers

    Many
of you have followed the life of Aaron Robinson through the pictures on
my blog… this is an awesome and amazing kid and I have come to
cherish and love him very much. I have photographed him since he was
little and have also photographed his little brother too.

    I just
found out the other day that Aaron is in the hospital because he has
cancer. They just recently found out about this and are trying to run
tests to see what type of cancer he has and what they need to do to
    treat him.

I don’t have many details but I would really appreciate it if you would keep this little guy and his family in your prayers.

  • Little Miss Kailee Jarman

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Well, it has been almost 3 weeks since I last posted and that means that Kailee is almost 3 weeks old! Wow, time does fly!

I don’t think that anything can really prepare you for parent hood and
the first few weeks of bringing home your new bundle of joy! It’s been
a little insane over here as we are adjusting to life with our new
    little girl!

She is so amazing and wonderful and we LOVE her with all of our
hearts… but oh vey, has it been a journey! No sleep at all and
countless feeding times… I no longer have time for myself it all goes
    to my precious little girl!!!

I want to thank you all for your patience in all of this! I am so
behind on emails and each day hope to answer at least a few to try to
    keep up.

In the meantime I wanted to share some pictures with you that I took of
Kailee on the day we were leaving the hospital! Of course I have so
many more since that day, but have had no time to look at them yet….
so here are some of my favorites.. She is 2 days old!!

    Love this pictures with Daddy!

  • Kailee Michelle Jarman is here!!!

    Kailee
Michelle Jarman is finally here. She was born on July 29th at 1:48 PM.
She weighs 5 lbs 4 ounces and is 18 3/4 inches. She is absolutely
gorgeous and looks just like her daddy!!! It has been a rough day
because she came out having a hard time breathing so they took her
straight to the ICU and has been there all day. We’ve been able to
visit her and she is doing great… we hope that tonight we will be
able to have her in the room with us.

I’m doing great and recovering well from the whole thing. I’m just so excited to get to hold my little baby girl!

I want to thank my very very good friend Rebeca Bouck for coming out
and taking a few pictures for us. She just emailed me the picture above
so I could blog it… it is gorgeous! Thank you Rebecca!!!

The two pictures below are of Kailee in the ICU. Stay tuned for more…
but once we actually have her in the room I think that blogging is
going to take a back burner for awhile… so it might be a little while!

Welcome to the world little miss Kailee Michelle!!!

  • Canvas Prints

Wrapped Canvas Prints are the new thing and I’m so glad my clients are jumping on board!!!

    Most
of the time when people order pictures they stick to the standard 5×7
or 8×10 prints, but sometimes you need to think outside of the box and
go dramatic! Have you seen the homes on HGTV or Extreme Makeover? They
are phenomenal… they are grand, big, and much of what makes the
interior is the art; it is very dramatic and big. Most people don’t
realize that you can do that to your own house by taking your favorite
picture and getting a large print or in this case Canvas.

    Wrapped
Canvas prints are wonderful because you don’t have to frame them! They
come ready to hang and truly are a piece of art. Framing is so
expensive nowadays and wrapped Canvas prints make it much more
affordable to get a true piece of art for your house at a reasonable
    price.

Lately I’ve had a few clients order canvas prints and I LOVE the way they have turned out.

Here are a few pictures of what the end product looks like.

  • Proof Books

All of my packages for weddings include a proof book and I’m
always looking for really neat ways to do them.  Our newest proof books
are totally unique because the image is actually on the cover… it’s a
    true book! I love these!

A lot of people don’t know what a proof book is.. basically a proof
book is all of your pictures in a book so that you don’t have to look
at everything online all the time. The numbers coordinate with
everything online so it makes it easy to order pictures. This book is
yours to keep so that when it is all said and done you have all of your
    images from the wedding.

I wanted to show you all samples of what they look like and how neat they are.

  • New Camera

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I’ve been searching hi and lo for a great point and shoot camera since
my very old one of 4 years just died. After asking all of you for
advice and doing some research I decided to buy the Canon 870 IS,
mostly because it has a wide angle lens!! So far I really like it.

I started playing with it and took a couple pictures of my
wonderful kitty, J-Lo and also Kailee’s almost finished room.  It did a
    pretty good job.

I will always still love my 5D and nothing can compare, but it is nice having a small camera to run around with!
